ANSA McAL donates 100 tablets to schools

With ANSA McAL’s latest donation, the Ministry of Education now has just over 8, 500 donated technological devices for students across the island.

The ANSA McAL Group recently held a virtual benefit concert, the proceeds from which went towards a specially created One Caribbean Future Fund to help students and teachers in the Caribbean transition from in-person classrooms to online learning.

Barbados received its tablets today during an official ceremony at the Ministry’s Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St Michael.

Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw, who noted that the Ministry’s target is to reach 10, 000 devices, said with partnership from companies like the ANSA McAL Foundation, achieving that goal is becoming a reality.

“We are getting close and would like to thank them and the artists who created this initiative,” Bradshaw said.

The Minister also urged students to take care of the devices and to appreciate how lucky they are to be recipients of the gifts.

The “One Yard” virtual concert which aired on Friday, October 30, 2020, was powered by the ANSA McAL Group of Companies and produced by Ultimate Events Ltd and featured the best talent in the region.

Tablets are currently being distributed to Ministries of Education in Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica and Guyana. (AH)
