Weekes handed down the sentence in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court yesterday after Drayton pleaded guilty to charges of possession, possession with intent to supply, having a trafficable quantity and cultivation of marijuana. The prison term was imposed for the cultivation offence, while Drayton was reprimanded and discharged on the other charges. The 189 grammes of marijuana were found at his residence when police executed a search warrant there on December 28 around 10:40 a.m. Forty-five plants were discovered as well as seedlings. “That weed and seeds is mine. I plant them there,” he told police that day about the illegal substance which had a $945 estimated street value. “I am sorry for what I have done,” Drayton said. “I would like the court to be as lenient with me. I only do that because the season out and I have my children to support,” he added.
