Over $4m in narcotics seized by Barbados Coast Guard

Four people are in custody in connection with the seizure of an estimated $4.9 million worth of illegal drugs.

The cocaine and marijuana were seized during a recent joint counter narcotics operation between the Barbados Defence Force’s maritime unit – the Barbados Coast Guard (BCG), the Royal Barbados Police Force and the Regional Security System.

“The interdiction seized a quantity of illegal drugs (cocaine and marijuana) of an estimated value of $4.9 million (BBD). Four (4) persons were apprehended,” the BCG revealed in a media release this afternoon.

It also assured that it “will continue to monitor and secure Barbados’ territorial waters in pursuit of our national security interests.”
