Mall murder accused pleads not guilty

The man accused of executing the deadly lunchtime shooting at Sheraton Centre over two years ago has denied the capital charge.

Hakeem Roberto Stuart, 23, of Shelbourne Gap, St Lawrence, Christ Church, appeared before High Court Judge Justice Randall Worrell this morning and was arraigned on the charge that he murdered Damian Trotman on March 21, 2019.

Stuart, who is represented by Andrew Pilgrim Q.C., pleaded not guilty to the offence before the No. 2 Supreme Court during a virtual sitting.

Director of Public Prosecutions Donna Babb-Agard Q.C. has put on record that she wants the case to go to trial before the end of the year. She is the prosecutor along with Crown Counsel Danielle Mottley.

The matter will be mentioned again before Justice Worrell on July 30.
