SSA worker gets nasty surprise

A routine morning on the job for one Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) worker turned into a messy nightmare on Tuesday.

During a 6 a.m. pickup of refuse in Rowans Park, St George, the worker was splattered with human faeces as a bag of waste was being compressed.

The SSA’s Public Relations Officer Carl Alff Padmore lamented that this was a recurring problem and it was very concerning.

“This is a very sad day for us; we are very concerned about this. This continues to happen throughout Barbados and we are appealing to Barbadians to be mindful of what you are placing in household refuse,” he said.

Declaring that “human beings were working behind the trucks”, Padmore appealed to householders to dispose of human faeces in the correct manner – in toilets.

“Please, please, please, we are urging you,” he said.

The worker who was splashed with the human waste cleaned up and returned to the field to complete the day’s work. (BT)
