Counting underway following highly-anticipated DLP elections

By tonight or early tomorrow morning, members of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) will know if incumbent president Verla De Peiza will regain the post, or if challenger Reverend Guy Hewitt will be their new leader.

At 5 p.m. today, following two days of voting at the DLP’s George Street headquarters, the polls closed to allow for the counting to begin.

Barbados TODAY understands that it is estimated that this year’s voter turnout stood at over 700, which is a noticeable increase from last year.

There’s a buzz around George Street with members who are awaiting the results.

Barbados TODAY will update readers on the results. (AH)
