(Pictures by Charles Grant.) A new number two man will take up duties at HMP Dodds Prison next month. He is Vincent Alleyne, who will begin a new tour of duty as Assistant Superintendent of Prisons from October 1. In confirming the appointment, Superintendent of Prisons John Nurse told Barbados TODAY that Alleyne will “add value” to the prison’s operations. “We look forward to his continued service,” Nurse added. Alleyne, who replaces Cedric Moore following his retirement last year, has a Masters Degree in Criminology and was seconded to the Criminal Justice Department before returning to the Prison as an Assistant Chief Officer in charge of a shift. In responding to the new appointee, an executive member of the Prison Association of Barbados who did not want to be identified at this time, said the organisation had no issues with Alleyne. “It is good that we have the appointment of a new ASP and that we are more than willing to work with him. Any assistance that we can offer, we are more than willing to give,” the association official told Barbados TODAY. (EJ)
