Education Local News News BUT probes reports of low teacher turnout at Good Shepherd Primary Sheria Brathwaite19/02/20240353 views The Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) is scheduled to visit the Good Shepherd Primary School this morning for an update on developments at the school. Barbados TODAY was reliably informed that there is a high level of teacher absenteeism at the St James school following a meeting on Sunday about safety concerns at the school. A check with the BUT earlier indicated that a union delegate was on their way to the school following a report that school monitors and a few teachers were supervising the students. A statement from the Ministry of Education on Sunday said regular classes would resume at the school today. Last Friday the school was closed early when lawmen were summoned to the compound. The Ministry explained that Chief Education Officer Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw instructed the school’s principal to involve the police “in a matter between members of the teaching body which left some teachers feeling threatened by what was levelled via text by another teacher.” (More details as they come to hand.)
