DLP says it’s ready to move Barbados forward

The Democratic Labour Party (DLP) is ready to move Barbados forward, President Verla DePeiza said Sunday.

Speaking during a church service at Restoration Ministries International to mark Errol Barrow Day and the start of a week of celebrations, Depeiza said the DLP is unified as one party, and is ready to undertake the several challenges currently facing the island.

“The guiding principles of the Democratic Labour Party are still relevant in the 21st century,” she said.

“We understand and commit to being the voice of the people going forward, and making sure that we put forward policies and craft a space where people can speak, and be heard and be acknowledged.”

The DLP president stressed that though the country was currently facing a testing time in its history, with the COVID-19 pandemic affecting the economic output on the island, the time was ripe now more than ever, for Barbadians to band together and push the nation forward.

“This is the time for regeneration, rejuvenation, and restoration. This is a time for all of us working together and pulling together. I am satisfied once we have done that, Barbados again will be a force to be reckoned with … punching above its weight, not just in the world, not just in the region, but it must be felt at home,” she said.
