The Purple Panthers were ahead on 653 points when proceedings were brought to a premature end at the Ellerton Primary School Inter-House Sports Day at the Ellerton community grounds. The battle was brisk and looking to head down to the very end of the day, with the Orange Tigers hunting Purple close behind with 627 points. Taking up the rearguard was the Green Hornets on 507 points. Dekasia Waithe and Kyla Nicholl of Purple Panthers tore the track apart for the Panthers. Waithe did a clean sweep in the Under-11 Girls Division, winning the 100m, 200m and 300m. She ran 14.69 seconds, 30.71 and 49.98 respectively. Nicholl claimed gold in the Under-13 Girls, winning the 100m in 15.40 seconds, the 200m in 33.34 seconds and the 400m in 1:32.88 minutes. The day concluded with Waithe in the top individual female spot, and with 50 points would have taken the Victrix Ludorum title. She also won the Open Girls 600m in 2:34.00 minutes and the Under-11 Girls Discus. Victor Ludorum and Under-nine champion Treshawn Cumberbatch of Green House slammed the 80m field. Though the Green Hornets were way behind before the early ending, young Kiara Lashley had already stung the competition. She claimed gold in the Under-nine 80m dash in 14.25 seconds, the 100m in 18.05 seconds and the 150m in 28.43 seconds. She was chased all the way by Cahlesha Beckles of the Orange Tigers in each event, as Beckles earned herself silver as she crossed the line. T’Niya Dottin of Purple was not to be left out of the hardware, taking the bronze honours in each of the Under-nine Girls sprints. Seth Franklyn was the top boy of the day, on his way to Victor Ludorum by earning 40 points from his performance on the track and field. He won the Under-13 Boys 100m in 13.73 seconds for the Green Hornets, and was first in the 200m in 29.43 seconds, the 400m in 1:16.07 minutes and won the Discus Throw. (BT)
