Sixty-year-old Robert Earle Mayo of St John’s, Newfoundland arrived in the island on March 27 with his wife Toris Mayo, also 60, and two friends. He was scheduled to leave the island on April 20, 2019. According to police, Robert went swimming around 10:30 a.m. and got into difficulty. A jet-ski operator alerted the lifeguard on duty who rescued Mayo from the water. Efforts were made to resuscitate Mayo, but there was no success. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Police Medical Officer at 12:27 hours.
