A family of 12 is now homeless after fire destroyed their wood and wall house at Lucas Street, St Philip.
The blaze occurred around 12:30 p.m. Investigations are continuing.
( more details as they come to hand.)
Could there be a serial arsonist making rounds in the republic???? Just asking.
Do the fire brigade ever save structures from destruction?
The following day, the Barbados Fire Chief Edward Nurse told the Nation News he would make a more detailed statement on the troubling issue at the end of the day.
‘In the meantime while our firefighters are at the top of their game, they cannot protect us against ourselves. Therefore it is best to be prepared’. Minister of Home Affairs mooted the idea that the time has come for the introductory of mandatory home insurance for Barbados. We must invest in smoke detectors and fire extinguishers, which is a reasonable call indeed. Be smart and keep fire at bay.’
