When Beckles, 41, of Skeete’s Road, Jackman, St Michael appeared before Magistrate Alison Burke he pleaded not guilty to importation, possession with intent to supply and trafficking of cannabis. According to police, Beckles went to the customs facility at the Grantley Adams International Airport on July 17, 2020, to collect a package which was searched by Customs Enforcement in his presence. The search uncovered two air purifiers that contained 13 packages of cannabis weighing 10.5 kgs . The drugs have an estimated street value of $82,000. Beckles is scheduled to reappear in court on November 24, 2020.
