A visitor to Barbados, apparently now a citizen by descent and the holder of a Barbados passport wrote a letter to the Press complaining about the deplorable state of the road in the parish of St.James.

He is quite aware that road-works are on-going in that part of the island but was highly critical of management of the project and how the work is being done.

Mr. Steve Prescott should be informed that he is not alone in his condemnation of the customs and practices of those involved in the repair and maintenance of our roadways.

We have been complaining for eons and our complaints  appear to fall on deaf ears.

He is suggesting that millions of dollars in insurance coverage be purchased but fortunately or unfortunately neither the government nor contractors have had to settle a hefty and substantial law suit.

We hope that what has been said by a visitor and trained attorney will be noted, and some corrective measures taken.

Are we really punching above our weight or are we fooling ourselves?

This article was submitted as a Letter to the Editor.

Editor’s note: While Mr. Steve Prescott is the holder of a law degree, he was inadvertently referred to as an attorney-at-law in the short bio to his column last week.
