Local NewsNews Pinehill Dairy lauds local farmers by Barbados Today Traffic 13/03/2021 written by Barbados Today Traffic 13/03/2021 2 min read A+A- Reset FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 493 Barbados’ lone dairy processing plant, The Pinehill Dairy (PHD), is heaping praise on local farmers for its new Made At Home campaign. The push highlights the contribution of local farmers, who continue to be the dairy’s main suppliers of its milk, to not only the local dairy industry, but to the overall development of Barbados as well. Commercial manager of Banks (Barbados) Breweries Limited, Shafia London, said that “for many generations, these artisans are contributors to the development of The Pinehill Dairy and to this country. They are a true representation of Barbados’ motto ‘Pride & Industry’, as they take great honour in their work and are always continuously seeking to improve its quality.” Since it was founded in 1966, PHD has always made it a priority to have its main milk source be local farmers, coming predominantly from family farms from in and around Bridgetown. Decades later and this ethos is still clear, with it now sourcing fresh cow’s milk from close to seventeen farms from across the island. PHD has always held its farmers in high regard throughout the years, by working closely with the farmers to help improve their farming practices and even invested in their operations. In 2020, they collaborated with the Barbados Agricultural Society and Barbados Beef and Dairy Producers Association project which facilitated the importation of 159 pregnant heifers to guarantee the sustainability of the local dairy industry. They previously contributed to a similar project in 2016. And through all adversity, they keep providing a quality product for us to share with our consumers.” The campaign will run for eight weeks with executions in retail, out-of-home, and digital.
