The programme concentrates on less fortunate children from low income households. They receive assistance in various ways, including vouchers to purchase full school uniforms, school shoes, backpacks, textbooks, stationery supplies, as well as funds to assist with payment of the textbook loan scheme and school fees. This year, ELYCT aims to support 285 students across 36 primary and secondary schools in Barbados. In commenting on Scotiabank’s involvement, Dwayne Grazette, president and CEO of ELYCT indicated: “We’re elated by the participation and contribution by Scotiabank at this time, when we are seeing a decline in contributions due to the pandemic. At the same time, the pandemic has resulted in more homes being unable to afford the basic school needs and supplies and as such, Scotiabank’s donation will help many students.
