Axcel Finance recently donated four state-of-the-art desktop computers to the Arthur Smith Primary and Belmont Primary schools, just ahead of the reopening of the new school year.

The regional microfinance institution which also donated three computers to the Grantley Prescod Memorial Primary School, made the donations as part of their “Back 2 School Together” initiative. Axcel Finance is committed to providing support to parents, guardians and students in preparation for the new school year.

Since the onset of the pandemic, many students and schools have faced various challenges to adapt to their new normal.

Some of these challenges include students facing the possibility of falling behind simply because of limited availability to resources required to keep up with the school syllabus.

Pamela Ifill, principal of the Belmont Primary school, expressed much gratitude on receipt of three desktops, backpacks and book covers from Axcel Finance.

“It is my pleasure to receive this very generous donation from Axcel Finance,” said Ifill.

“We are very pleased on behalf of the Belmont Primary School and staff to receive this donation. I thank you
for thinking of our school and I can assure you that these computers will be put to very good use.”

To extend its generosity to as many schools as possible, the company also donated a desktop, backpacks and
book covers to the Arthur Smith Primary School. Accepting the donation on behalf of the Arthur Smith Primary School, the school’s principal, Wilma McLean heartily thanked the institution.

“We shall truly enjoy what was donated to the betterment of all in our educational environment.”

For many schools and students, access to computers remain a challenge despite the increasing need for computers in their education. Many students and schools cannot afford to purchase these essential devices.

Online learning has become the norm for most students as face-to-face instruction in a classroom setting has been supplanted. Therefore, Axcel Finance’s intervention speaks to the company’s deep interest in the development of our future – our youths.

“Axcel Finance is proud to lend support to youth development at any scale. We trust that these donations will be instrumental in the success of students at both schools,” Operations Manager, Richard Simpson said. (PR)
