Managing Director Raphaël Grisoni explained that the drive, which ran from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Mount Gay’s Brandons location, was open to the public as well as staff and their family members. He said: “At Mount Gay we understand the importance of playing our part in the fight against COVID and saw this partnership as an excellent opportunity for us to provide a central location for our employees and their family, as well as our neighbours in the surrounding communities, who may not be able to get to the other vaccine sites. “It provided another channel for us to continue our support for the battle against COVID-19 on the island. To date, we have donated over 8 000 bottles of Mount Gay manufactured hand sanitiser to Government agencies including the Royal Barbados Police Force, Barbados Drug Service and Barbados Customs Department, as well as select business partners including restaurants. “We also partnered with the St. Lucy Parish Independence Committee (PIC) to assist residents within the immediate surroundings of our St. Lucy plant, and we have provided our staff members with hand sanitiser and care packages as well.” Grisoni encouraged other companies to participate in similar initiatives. “It is critical that we all do whatever we can to assist, whether it is through providing support for our communities or initiatives such as the vaccine drive and educating staff on the importance of being vaccinated and following the protocols. This is critical for the island to get our COVID-19 cases and deaths down.
