Following a thanksgiving service on Sunday at the Ellerton Wesleyan Holiness Church to celebrate his victory at the January 19 polls, Sutherland said his success has much to do with the Almighty who has called him to serve. He said once his team sticks together, they will accomplish many projects within the constituency which he has already articulated on the political platform. “I know the people of St George South can look for good representation like they have seen from 2013 to present time and they can look forward to some more engagement by Dwight Sutherland. COVID would have stopped us from moving around as we did in 2013 to 2018. COVID came in 2020 and it limited our movement throughout all 30 constituencies. “But we think that we can manage it now and you can look forward to seeing Dwight Sutherland weekly. I don’t have to wait on the Prime Minister to say we have to go into the community. I am from the community and I spend a lot of time in the community,” he said. The newly-appointed Minister of Housing, Lands and Maintenance outlined that he will be rolling out projects for young mothers, men, and the elderly. He also indicated that he will remain the President of the Ellerton Sports and Social Academy. The Member of Parliament who gained 3 834 votes on January 19 was joined by his immediate family, campaign team and friends, at the service of thanksgiving at which Pastor Livy Trotman urged him to keep God at the centre of his work in the constituency.
