In recognition of International Women’s Day, Pinehill Dairy, Barbados’ sole dairy manufacturer recognised Annette Beckett, the only female dairy farmer supplying Pinehill Dairy with milk.

Breaking the bias was the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day and in a male dominated industry Beckett has remained faithful in her love for the dairy industry with over 36 years of experience.

As a token of appreciation, Annette was gifted $5,000 by Pinehill Dairy to assist with the daily expenses associated with her dairy farm.

Shafia London, Country Manager of Banks Holdings Limited, parent company of Pinehill Dairy said: “Due to COVID, food security has become important and with disruptions to the supply chain across the world it is imperative that we support local entrepreneurs and businesses.” London who is the first female country head for BHL expressed pride in acknowledging Beckett for her efforts in a male dominated space.

“As we celebrate International Women’s Day, Pinehill Dairy is honoured to be able to present $5,000 to Miss Beckett, we trust these funds will assist her in continuing to do the work and providing not just Pinehill Dairy but Barbadians with quality milk and reinforce PHD’s commitment to sustainable agriculture.”

“This gift is just one way that Pinehill Dairy will continue that commitment. You will have noticed that the company made significant strides in recent times to improve the supply of products, increased visibility of the brand and a revitalized brand image.”

Dana Rock, Category Manager of Pinehill Dairy, has expressed great pride in the work done by the team in creating impactful visuals, new SKU’s such as the 500ML and various campaigns in schools and in supermarkets and shops across the island.

Beckett thanked PHD saying the funds would assist her in covering expenses and making some much needed improvements to the farm.

Pinehill Dairy has also recently launched a Quality First Program where farmers can gain added compensation if they meet certain Key Performance Indicators related to quality.

The team from PHD will offer individual assessments for each farmer. They will also give advice on how the farmers can improve their milk quantity and supply and work closely to ensure they achieve those metrics.

Pinehill Dairy remains committed to the sustainability of the Dairy Industry in Barbados. (PR)
