Less than a year after taking the world by storm with their locally produced children’s book, a Barbadian couple is once again leaving their mark on the genre.

This time, Stacey and Gabriel Welch have done so with the publication of Lily & Luca’s Adventure in Bridgetown. The new book is a follow up to Lily & Luca’s Adventure at The Cave which followed their exploration of the Harrison’s Cave Eco-Adventure Park.

The second edition, which likewise was published by the Welch’s Gabcey Productions company, follows the exploits of Lily & Luca in the capital city.

In an interview with Barbados TODAY, Stacey explained that the book captured the many exciting things to see and do in Bridgetown thereby giving persons all across the world the opportunity to experience Barbadian culture and heritage in the most unique way.

The Lily & Luca’s Adventures book series is the story of two siblings’ pursuit of new discovery and adventure in beautiful Barbados. It is an educational and entertaining story book that makes reading fun for children while illustrating exciting aspects of the island, and contains interactive and fun activities for children ages four to 10 years old. It is intended to help children improve on their comprehension, retention and analytical skills and is available in both English and French.

“We found a need for children to read more and to be reacquainted and excited with reading and this is why we seek to introduce them to reading in the most fun way possible. Lily & Luca’s Adventures was always intended to be a series, thus creating more books with educational and entertaining content was always the plan and there is still more to come,” Stacey said.

The couple, Stacey a teacher and Gabriel a visual artist, said they truly enjoy producing children’s literature, and expressed gratitude for the love and support they received from persons here and abroad with their first book. It was so overwhelming that it encouraged them to continue the journey.

“We extend heartfelt thanks to every person who gave us their support thus far and we hope to reach many more,” Stacey added.

Both books are available at: Cloister Bookstores, the University of the West Indies Bookshop, NovelTeas at Coconut Walk Hastings; Kitteus Enterprises at the People’s Mall Tudor Bridge; Ryan’s Happy Place Grocery Store, Porters St. James; Harrison’s Cave and  the  Flower Forest Botanical Garden.
