Elsa Boyce-Williams and her sister were in a vehicle driven by their brother Glenroy Boyce when the incident occurred just before 2 p.m. “We went to pay for gas at Rubis and as we came out when we get to the top of the road my brother saw a bump, so he tried to just ride the bump and we found ourselves going on a side,” Boyce-Williams recounted. After they were stuck but still unaware of their precarious position, Boyce cautioned his sisters not to move. “We were not coming back down, so he said to us ‘don’t move’. None of us moved and then I said ‘G, you have the hand brake up….I pulled the hand brakes up and all he was saying is ‘don’t move’.” A good Samaritan, who Boyce-Williams described as an “angel”, stopped and offered to help. He called the emergency services and the family waited. Shortly after, officers from the Barbados Fire Service arrived and rescued the family. After emerging, an emotional Williams-Boyce told Barbados TODAY: “We are not hurt, it [the vehicle] went on the side. But when you know God, let me tell you, God does protect you.” The siblings were shocked to see the perilous position of the vehicle. “We didn’t know it was like that. Now we get out we realise how it was. It was dangerous…. I am so glad that God is good, all the time God is good. I proved it today, I proved today what a good God I have. Amen, Lord, I thank you, I thank you for saving us today,” Williams-Boyce declared.
