I can see clearly now the rain has gone.

The Sunday Sun front page story days before the January 19 general election, which quoted former Democratic Labour Party (DLP) minister Chris Sinkler questioning then Verla DePeiza’s leadership now makes perfect sense.

VOB reported that Mr Sinckler is tipped for a high-profile post with an international agency. I suddenly had an image of a bird perched on a paling singing at supper, breakfast and lunch time.

As former St Andrew MP George Payne reminded Barbadians in Parliament not too long ago, this is the man who was the most hated by the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) and was the biggest talking point of the Government post-2018 election. His name was called on the floor of Parliament more than the DLP leader Freundel Stuart. He was berated, lambasted and called all manner of things.

Then we heard of his appointment to a Government committee and criticism of him was no more.

Now months after being critical of the DLP – the party under which he served as minister; the said party that has to be credited for his political career, he is now reportedly walking into a big pick as we Bajans would say.

Good thing is, nothing surprises me when it comes to politicians.

On another note, since the former Minister of Culture and Sport Stephen Lashley also came out in criticism of former prime minister Stuart, will he be next to get a pick?

With talk of a new stadium being built will he get a consultancy post? Or will he head some sub-committee for the new-look Crop Over festival? I guess time will tell.

Honestly, in politics strange bedfellows are not that strange at all.
