It has been confirmed. I read in the Nation that Mr. Chris Sinckler will be working with the World Bank. He is taking up a position which was “nominated by the Mia Mottley administration”.

For 10 years the BLP accused him of not only being incompetent but for the suffering endured by Barbadians, but they are now rewarding him. So much for the 2013 No Confidence motion against him led by Miss Mottley.

Seems “the lost decade” was found.

The comparison between this Sinckler job and when then Prime Minister David Thompson gave the nod for BLP’s Liz Thompson to take up a post with the United Nations is hogwash.

Liz never stopped publicly supporting her BLP and she continued then and to this day to lambaste the DLP. In order words, she did not waver or compromise
on her political stance as a staunch BLP supporter to garner a job.

Likewise, PM Thompson gave her the nod even though she was fiercely opposed to the DLP and their ideals. For that I commend our late PM and indeed Liz Thompson.

This thing with Chris is not the same. He is singing a different tune. He has apparently isolated himself from the party to the point he did not even publicly endorse the DLP’s candidate for his former constituency St Michael North West. Who knows what a difference he might have made in assisting that young man Ryan Walters.

This scenario also shows the difference in the two political parties. Liz got the nod based on the fact that she was described by Mr Thompson as “a Barbadian”. She was not coerced into a position or saw it necessary to malign her party or speak unkindly of its leadership.

Efforts to draw parallels with the two appointments are weak and baseless. They simply are not the same.

I do not remember a living soul speaking ill of Liz at that time and there was a reason for that. She stood by her political convictions.
