Sandals canteen named in honour of Downie

Sandals Barbados honoured one of its most believed former colleagues by renaming their staff canteen in his memory.

Markson Downie, the man many knew from the local Sandals advert with the tag line “I am Sandals”, which earned him that nickname, passed away last year.

Yesterday he was immortalized by the naming of the staff cafeteria in his honour.
Hundreds of team members from varying departments joined to say thank you to the former landscaper, as Resort Manager Patrick Drake and Public Relations Manager David Hinds brought words of tribute on behalf of the company to his family members in attendance.

With the cutting of a ribbon and pull of a rope the newly named cafeteria was officially opened and lunched served to all. (PR)
