During a press conference to give details on the party’s annual general meeting (AGM) next weekend at the DLP headquarters in George Street, St Michael, he said the party was building out its membership, improving weaknesses in its constituency branches and internal operations. He announced that 500 to 600 new members will be inducted in the party at the AGM and 75 per cent of them were 35 years old or younger. Blackett said this was significant as it meant the DLP still had a measure of attractiveness. The general secretary assured the public that after the AGM, the party will be well on its way back to its former glory.
