Dozens of Barbadians made their way to Golden Square Freedom Park on Saturday to learn more about the wide range of digital banking services available at several of the island’s financial institutions.

The initiative was a collaboration between local banks and credit unions to promote the digital services available in the local financial services sector.

Shakida Grant, Senior Manager, Client Engagement at CIBC First Caribbean, told Barbados TODAY that the aim of the exercise was to help educate locals on the real benefits on offer with these digital services.

“We think it is really important for our clients to be aware and fully engaged in all of the digital services we provide. No longer do you have to wait in the line to cash a cheque. You can do that on the ABM, and you can actually see the photo of the check [when deposited] depending on the institution.”

Grant stated that there are several other positive measures available for Barbadians to use with the new wave of digital banking services, including enhanced security measures, the ease of bill paying, and a reduction of the need to write cheques. (SB)
