Emera Caribbean, the parent company of the Barbados Light & Power Company, has contributed to the family support charity Help Us Reach Them (H.U.R.T.) Christmas hamper drive, the firm has announced.
In a release, the company said it is proud to support the charitable efforts of H.U.R.T., an organisation that has long served as a source of hope for families and individuals facing challenging circumstances.
H.U.R.T., known for its annual Christmas hamper drive, focuses its efforts on families identified through collaborations with the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs and other prominent social work bodies.
In a new development for this year, H.U.R.T. is extending its assistance to families associated with a local primary school, Emera said. The initiative typically distributes 40 hampers annually, each meticulously packed to provide a meaningful and practical contribution to those in need.
Dawn Williams, the charity’s treasurer, emphasized H.U.R.T.’s mission: “Our emphasis, with each food drive, is to get as much fresh, healthy food into the homes of underprivileged families.”
Emera Caribbean’s finance director Solange Payne expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the company’s belief in supporting initiatives that bring tangible benefits to the lives of those facing adversity.
