The flash flood warning has been downgraded to a watch, but the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) says rainfall from a tropical wave affecting the island will continue over the next few hours.

“The tropical wave will continue to affect Barbados, bringing light to moderate showers with occasional gusty winds with a gradual improvement in conditions this afternoon into tonight,” it said in a statement.

The tropical wave brought moderate to violent showers across Barbados throughout the morning.

“Rainfall accumulations of in excess of two inches were observed across much of the island with isolated higher amounts near three inches. Further rainfall accumulation of up to one inch is likely in the next few hours,” the BMS said.
