Dacosta Edwards Primary in St Andrew and Springer Memorial in St Michael will be closed today to allow authorities to tackle increased bee activity around the schools. A statement issued by the Ministry of Education said a beekeeper will be visiting A. Dacosta Edwards to remove any hives. With respect to Springer Memorial, the Ministry said a hive on a nearby property is yet to be removed by the occupants and the school was closed to avoid students, teachers and staff being affected by the bees. The Ministry said a bee keeper explained that the unusually high bee activity has been caused by several factors including recent weather conditions, bees growing out of their hives and their search for food.
