A mother, her teenage daughter, and a 21-year-old man have been charged in connection with the importation of more than half a million dollars’ worth of cocaine, with two also facing money laundering allegations.

Police have jointly charged 55-year-old Lisa Cecelia Walcott and her 19-year-old daughter Destiny Alisa Miracle Greenidge, both of 2nd Avenue, Welchman Hall, St Thomas, along with Abu Zarr Hans of Ocean View Road, Spooners Hill, St Michael, for importation and possession with intent to supply 10.6 kilogrammes of cocaine valued at $530 000.

The trio were under investigation by the Barbados Police Service’s Narcotics Unit and the Financial Crimes Unit.

In addition to the drug charges, Hans and Greenidge face joint charges of laundering $36 667. Hans is also separately charged with laundering $69 802.45.

All three appeared before Magistrate Beckles in the District ‘D’ Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. They were not required to enter a plea.

Hans and Greenidge were each granted bail in the sum of $150 000, while Walcott was granted $100 000 bail.

They are scheduled to return to court on August 20.
