Phillips pledges continued infrastructure upgrades in St Lucy

BLP candidate for St Lucy, Peter Phillips, is urging constituents to stay the course with the Barbados Labour Party, assuring that major infrastructure works -including water main replacements – will continue across the constituency.

Addressing the BLP’s rally at Checker Hall on Wednesday evening, the incumbent outlined what he described as significant progress over the past seven years, while acknowledging long-standing challenges with water quality.

“Over the past seven years, we have replaced 30 kilometres of water mains, and you see all across St Lucy – in Rock Hall, Colleton, Crab Hill, Lowlands, Chance Hall — all that we are doing in respect to the brown water, and I must apologise for that. But that did not begin with the Barbados Labour Party,” Phillips said.

He noted that a mains replacement programme had begun under the late Prime Minister Owen Arthur in 1996 but was later halted when the Democratic Labour Party took office.

“We have done a lot of work, but we still have a lot more to do,” he added.

Phillips described his party’s performance in the constituency as “stellar”, pointing to several completed and ongoing projects.

“We have completed roads at Crab Hill No. 1, from Crab Hill Police Station straight through to Archers Bay. We have delivered Lowlands Road, Chance Hall Road. These are not just promises – these are facts,” he said.

He also highlighted the farmers’ project at Mount Poyer, the soon-to-open agricultural school at Hope, the refurbishment of the post office, and the establishment of a new social care facility at Benthams as key achievements of the Mia Mottley administration.

“When Labour leads, St Lucy succeeds,” Phillips said.
