Representation means I am listening. Representation means Iโm an advocate. Representation means Iโm accountable.โ ย Jones said even though he was new to politics, he was eager to serve.ย ย โThis is my first time offering myself for public office, and I do not apologize for that. I am quite excited to be part of the Democratic Labour Party because what some call inexperience, I call a fresh commitment. What some call newness, I call freedom from baggage. What some see as weakness, I see as opportunity to do better and to do things differently,โ he said ย Jones used the opportunity to highlight several concerns he had heard from residents across the constituency. ย โLet me share what I have learned and have heard constantly across Christ Church East Central. Iโve heard about the cost of living squeezing families to the breaking point. Iโve heard about the cost of living, in terms of the roads and drainage that only gets attention when an election is near,โ he said. ย โI have heard about young people who are trained, about underemployment and definitely unemployed and overqualified. They canโt get a job. Iโve heard about small businesses struggling to survive under pressure. ย โIโve heard about community safety and fear creeping into places that once felt secure. These are not abstract issues. These are daily realities in Barbados, and they require more than talk. They require representation that works, and the Democratic Labour Party, with its slate of candidates, shows that they will work when February 12th comes,โ Jones added.
