SVG edge Barbados in CONCACAF friendly

St Vincent and the Grenadines secured a hard fought 3-2 win over Barbados, as the latest round of action in the CONCACAF friendly series concluded in Bonaire recently.

That result followed a 3-1 defeat for Barbados by Saint Martin last week.

St Vincent and the Grenadines took the lead in the 28th minute following a goal from Kirtney Franklyn, who ironically plays for Brittons Hill United in the Barbados Football Association’s Premier League competition.

SVG then went 2-0 up and deepened the problems for Barbados, with a goal from Azhino Solomon ten minutes later.

US based defender Ajani Banton pulled a goal back for Barbados in the 51st minute, before striker Jaron Oughterson continued his good international form, as his latest goal saw Barbados drawing level in the 59th minute.

Any thoughts of a dramatic comeback were extinguished however, when Oalex Anderson put St Vincent and the Grenadines back ahead for the final time in the 78th minute.

With the Barbados team returning home, action in the BFA Premier League will resume at Wildey this Sunday following a two week break.

Paradise lead the table on 21 points ahead of second placed Ellerton on 20 and third placed Kickstart Rush, who also have 20 points. Defending champions Weymouth Wales on 19 points and Brittons who are fifth by virtue of goal difference, round out the top five.
