Barbados’ duo of Anthonette Riley and Mark Dowell also exited the competition, going down in straight sets defeat to their Guatemalan opponents Lucia Cordero and Sergio Carrillio, 11-5, 11-3, 11-5. Tre Riley won the first game of his encounter against Fernando Alfaro of El Salvador, before ultimately losing 3-1, Dowell lost by a similar margin to St Lucia’s De Andre Calderon, while Cuba’s Daniela Fonseca defeated Barbadian Angela Reid 3-0. Knight clinched his second win of the day, when he defeated Trinidad and Tobago’s Mekhi Simmons 11-5, 11-4, 11-4, while Riley lost again, this time to Adrian Perez of Cuba in straight sets.
