EntertainmentLocal News Promoters react as ‘Tipsy’ reschedules amid date issue by Ricardo Roberts 06/05/2026 written by Ricardo Roberts Updated by Benson Joseph 06/05/2026 3 min read A+A- Reset FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 31 The decision by organisers of the “Tipsy” Foreday Morning party to reschedule their date has been met with approval from national bandleaders, even as other private promoters signalled they were pressing forward with their original schedules despite new clashes on the calendar. The move follows a period of intense public discussion regarding the event’s timing, which many felt placed it in direct competition with traditional national festivities. Twisted Entertainment, producers of Tipsy J’ouvert Party Experience, said in a statement that the event has been moved to Sunday, August 2. It stated, “the team made the deliberate decision to move the event out of the Foreday Morning window in order to preserve the integrity of one of Barbados’ most important cultural traditions. From day one, our intention has always been to celebrate J’ouvert culture, not compete with it.” Bryan Worrell, spokesperson for the Foreday Morning Band Collective and director of Colours Entertainment, stated that the collective is satisfied with the resolution. He noted that the original date had posed a significant threat to the success of traditional bands. ”The collective is very happy today that one of the events that was causing a major challenge for us has been moved,” Worrell said. “What we wanted was that the event would be protected to some extent from competition. The same type of event on that same night made it kind of difficult for us to operate and be successful.” You Might Be Interested In Crystal Beckles-Holder, 2nd runner up in regional competition GUYANA: Body of child found after gold mine collapses Barbadians asked to help with return tickets for Haitians Worrell emphasised that as a staple national event with over 30 years of history, Foreday Morning required a level of protection from the culture ministry and the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) to ensure stakeholders could remain viable. ”They had a bigger entertainment package, so it would have been challenging for us to compete with them on the same day,” Worrell added. “We are looking to protect our event and we want to make sure that the stakeholders, which are the bandleaders in Foreday Morning, are operating in a space where they can be successful.” While the collective celebrates the move, the new date for Tipsy has created a fresh overlap with established private events. Ryan Forde, co-director of the J’ouvert event “Stain’d” and the “Brekfus Experience”, confirmed that Tipsy’s new slot now falls on the same day as his Sunday event. But Forde remained unfazed by the shift, stating that his team has no plans to alter their itinerary. ”The event that you referenced has changed to another date that actually is the same date as another event that we host,” Forde said. “We’ve hosted the event for nine years, and this is our tenth year. I don’t see it as competition… I think all of us complement the festival.” Forde maintained a collaborative outlook on the season’s logistics, suggesting that a variety of locations and styles benefits the overall Crop Over festival. ”For me, the more events and the variety or the different style of events and locations is great for our lovely Crop Over festival,” Forde remarked. “People will go to their event, people will come to our event, and people will love Crop Over. Our focus is just putting on a great event for Barbadians and visitors.” Twisted Entertainment said the right move was to create space for Foreday Morning to stand on its own while positioning Tipsy J’ouvert as a complementary experience with the Crop Over season. The group emphasised that Foreday Morning remains a cornerstone of Barbadian culture adding that they fully supported its continued prominence on the national calendar With the scheduling conflict for Foreday Morning resolved, band leaders under the Collective have indicated they are now ready to move full steam ahead with their 2026 productions.
