Coordinated by the Empire Club, the one-day event which caters to schools in St Michael, gets underway on Friday at the clubโs Bank Hall playing field. According to member of the organising committee Dale Greenidge, the inaugural event will cater to ten schools, with an expansion planned for future editions. โWell we know that the [BICO] Primary School football tournament starts sometime next week, so we decided to put on a tournament for schools from St Michael, probably not all, but ten of them, because it is the first time they will be playing in a preseason one day tournament. โItโs just after the Common Entrance exam and just before the start of the BICO tournament, so you know the boys that normally play and are in Class 3 or 4 might not be doing that much at school right now,โ Greenidge pointed out. According to Greenidge, the response from schools has been excellent. A lot more schools would like to get involved in it, so next year we hope it can be bigger and better.ย โWe are likely to put the teams in two zones in an effort to get everything completed on time in one day, so parents can still collect their children on time,โ Greenidge said. ย (KH) Kurtis Hinds You may also like Digital services firm expands with major investment 06/05/2026 Promoters react as ‘Tipsy’ reschedules amid date issue 06/05/2026 Brittons Hill thump Lions to remain in title hunt 06/05/2026
