Cuban solidarity groups in Barbados will be staging a two-hour picket outside the United States Embassy in Wildey, St Michael on Saturday.

Co-ordinator of the 13th June 1980 Movement, Lalu Hanuman, explained that the picket is in protest against “the illegal and immoral blockade placed on Cuba by the US, and most recently, on its ability to import fuel to keep hospitals, educational establishments, and basic services functioning.”

Hanuman said Cuba is facing dire consequences resulting in the deaths of people awaiting urgent operations and rising infant mortality.

The attorney and social activist is urging Barbadians to attend the picket to oppose “this imminent genocide and the blowing up of boats in the Caribbean and the Pacific by American forces, resulting in over 200 deaths. “

The demonstration starts at 10 a.m.
