A Bank Hall, St Michael man has been convicted by a jury of murder and multiple firearms-related offences arising from a 2022 shooting that left one man dead and others injured.

Jakobe Jaheem Yarde of Nurse Land was found guilty of the April 16, 2022, murder of Jerome Stuart.

Stuart, 25, formerly of 8th Avenue, New Orleans, died after being shot at Baxters Road, near Jordanโ€™s Supermarket.

Yarde was also convicted by a 12-member jury of using a firearm without a valid licence; unlawfully wounding Steve Hackett and Rasheed Bishop with intent to do them serious bodily harm or to maim, disfigure or disable them; and maliciously engaging in conduct, namely shooting at Michael Preville and Ceejay Ifill, with intent to place them in danger of death or serious bodily harm.

The verdicts were read in the No. 3 Supreme Court on Thursday.

Defence attorneys Sade Harris and Markaila Brathwaite, who represent Yarde, requested a pre-sentence report and custody record.

Acting Director of Public Prosecutions Krystal Delaney and Principal State Counsel Joyann Catwell prosecuted the case.

Justice Carlisle Greaves adjourned until September 25, when the sentencing hearing will begin.
