Joseph, Greaves advance to next round of the Keirin at CAC Games

Barbadian cyclists Amber Joseph and Arielle Greaves advanced to the second round of the women’s Keirin at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in the Dominican Republic on Thursday after taking different routes to qualification.

Joseph qualified automatically after finishing second in Heat Two, while Greaves placed sixth in Heat Three before booking her place through the repechage. 

Competing in the first heat of the repechages, Greaves finished third to secure her place in the next round.

There was also good news from the women’s hockey team, as Barbados defeated Jamaica 3-0. D’jamila Edwards, Anaya Alleyne-Jermaine and Jada Prescod were all on target.

Among the Barbadian swimmers, Kaija Eastmond was eighth in Heat Four of the women’s 50m backstroke in 32.07 seconds before returning to the pool for Heat Two of the 100m butterfly, where she placed seventh in 1:09.60.

Up next for team Barbados was Jake Chee-A-Tow, who clocked 57.99 seconds to finish seventh in Heat Four of the 100m butterfly. 

In related swimming news, Barbados enjoyed a solid session in the pool during Wednesday evening’s competition.

Danielle Treasure finished fifth in the women’s Freestyle B final, in a personal-best time of  58.07 seconds, while Heidi Stoute was eighth in the A final in 56.53 seconds, also a personal best..

Amani Miller’s time of 53.13 seconds saw him touch the wall in tenth position in the B final of the 100m freestyle, another personal- best performance, while Jake Chee-A-Tow finished 10th in the 200m butterfly final. He clocked 2:09.57.
