Paradise hammer Mavericks 9-0

Paradise savoured the rare opportunity to play on home turf at Dover, hammering Mavericks 9-0 in the Barbados Football Association’s Kotex Women’s League.

National striker Rianna Cyrus fired Paradise into the lead in the 12th minute, before Acacia Small doubled their advantage just two minutes later during play on Saturday.

Soraya Toppin-Herbert made it 3-0 to Paradise in the 19th minute, before another goal from Adrienne Forde and a double strike from Solange Holford just before half time, saw unbeaten Paradise ease to a 6-0 lead at the break.

Three more second-half goals completed the rout for Paradise, who strengthened their credentials as leading contenders for this year’s title and are likely to be among the teams to beat in the upcoming Prime Minister’s Cup for Women. 

In the night’s remaining game, Technique blanked Whitehall 5-0.

Empire have also been enjoying a competitive season and wrapped up their latest win at Dover on Sunday, where they blitzed Police 10-0 as the action resumed.

Tianna Bynoe and Lorall Romain led the way with hattricks, while Towanna Clarke had a double strike.

Asha Stevenson and Shawntae Hinds grabbed the remaining goals for Empire, as Police endured another tough night.

R.F Prime were also in winners row at the Dover Playing Field on
Sunday.

Nautica Worrell was on target on two occasions, while Jessie Robinson, Danika Antoine and Shiloh Howell scored a goal apiece, during a 5-1 victory over FVFC Femeni.

Siara Oliver converted from the penalty spot for Femeni in the dying seconds of the game.

Following last weekend’s matches, Paradise lead the table on 24 points, with Empire second on 21 and RF Prime third on 19.

Technique moved up one position to fourth on 15 points, with Mavericks rounding out the top five in 12 points.

The Police team occupied sixth position on six points, with seventh placed FVFC Femeni and eight placed Whitehall, separated by goal difference on three points.
