A visitor to the island who breached COVID-19 protocol and conducted business at the Worthing branch of Republic Bank, was identified yesterday due to the vigilance of staff at the bank.

In a statement, the bank said management acted swiftly to inform the COVID-19 Monitoring Unit of the suspected breach, and public health officials quickly launched an investigation into the matter, identifying the visitor and confirming their status as someone still under quarantine.

It said the Ministry of Health and Wellness has since assured the Bank that there is no cause for concern to staff and customers.

“Republic Bank continues to maintain strict adherence to all health protocols issued by the Ministry of Health and Wellness. All persons – locals and tourists alike – are required to wear a mask upon entry and while conducting business in all banking halls. Temperature checks and hand sanitization are also conducted at entry.ย  The Bank continues to thoroughly sanitize all high traffic touchpoints. As a result of Bankโ€™s strict adherence to these protocols, the risk of exposure was mitigated,” the bank said.

Republic Bank added that it remains committed to protecting the health and wellbeing of all customers, staff and the community. (BT/PR)
