Sir Frank was one of my first lecturers in the Economics programme at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies. His guidance and encouragement helped tremendously with my graduation with First Class Honours in Economics in 1983. He was a respected Economics lecturer who contributed immensely to the national debate on economic and financial issues for many years. When I joined the staff of the Economics department in 1983 as a young graduate, Sir Frank Alleyne and my mentor, the late Wendell McClean, were very welcoming and their guidance made my transition from student to lecturer seamless.
