Barbados is the scene of a major television series shoot for popular film and tv streaming service Netflix.

The team in the month-long shoot which started last week by Crucial Productions/Narrow Isle Productions, LLC will be busy on the set at several locations in The City of Bridgetown between today and Friday.

The television project, which is being undertaken with the backing of the Prime Ministerโ€™s Office, will continue filming Thursday along Wharf Road and Shepherd Street.

On Friday, the production team will shoot in the areas of Cavans Lane, Pierhead Lane and the Wharf.

Police are being deployed for traffic control and public safety. They say emergency vehicles will be allowed to go through should the need arise.

Tom Parris, the production companyโ€™s location manager said City businesses are not being asked to close in the area of filming but would see intermittent pedestrian traffic.

โ€œOur crew and extras parking and our catering will be outside of the area,โ€ Parris said.โ€Our equipment truck parking will be on private property.

โ€œWe are working with the Prime Ministerโ€™s Office and the Ministry of Health and have been granted exemptions to the current Government directives. We are following a strict internal COVID protocol that requires face masks for all (except for actors when on camera), weekly COVID testing and frequent hand sanitizing.โ€

While acknowledging that his team members are guests in Barbados, the location manager asked for the cooperation and understanding of Barbadians as they undertake their filming.

Minister in the Prime Ministerโ€™s Office responsible for Culture John King told Barbados TODAY this film project will boost the countryโ€™s image abroad and also provide work for some local creatives whose skills may be used to assist in the production of the television series.

Noting that Barbados is a perfect location for film shoots, King noted it is not the first time international film teams have used the country for movie locations. (EJ)
