The late Pearson Jordan, OLY competed at the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976 in the 100m and the 4x100m Relay.ย His teammates in the relay were Rawle Clarke, OLY, Pearson Trotman, OLY, and Hamil Grimes OLY. President of Olympians Barbados, Freida Nicholls, applied to the WOA for the posthumous granting of the OLY designation on behalf of Pearson, and it was granted. Pearsonโs OLY certificate was presented to his sister Shelly Jordan at the Pearson Jordan Memorial Road Race in St Peter on Independence Day for onward transmission to his widow Marva Jordan, who resides in the USA. Nicholls served on the committee that developed the OLY designation while she was a member of the Executive Committee of the WOA (2015 โ 2020).ย In 2017 she was among the first Olympians who were presented with their OLY certificates by WOA President Joel Bouzou at WOA Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.ย OLY celebrated its five year anniversary in November 2022.
