The Alliance Owners of Public Transport (AOPT) has urged the operators of Public Service Vehicles to return to work.
AOPT public relations officer Mark Haynes made it clear that the organization does not support the strike and operators should immediately resume services.
“We renounce the strike, we do not support the strike, we do not sanction the strike. I take this opportunity to urge workers to go back to work, he said while speaking on Down to Brasstacks this afternoon.
The operators are up in arms about a new uniform bearing the Barbados Transport Authority’s logo.
However, Haynes stressed that the association was working with the authority to address the issue and operators should exercise patience.
“We are still negotiating, we cannot have anarchy…We are making a concerted effort to address these matters as I speak. Therefore, I urge all workers to return to work immediately,” he said.
These guys make their own rules, do we they like and laugh. Do they have any respect ?.
As usual the tail wagging the dog here.
These drivers didn’t get the news that the strike was off.
Strike actions are being abused. We were informed that the strike was averted, yet we are hearing discontent about the same uniforms and drivers/conductors regarding temporary suspensions for two or more infringements. However, you find yourself before the Law Courts with over 20 reports. Lawlessness must be controlled and the only way way to deal with these issues will be your pockets.
No group no company or organization shall hold the public to Ransom. Over the years these people have being doing as thier like. No more. Enough is enough. With their behavior most of them couldn’t work no place else. They will fall in or fall out.SIMPLE As THAT.
Strike On
No work no pay to take home
Even thee operators of Public Service Vehicles are Educated and have no Common Sense
This why the present pay system is best
No work no pay
Strike whole week and take home no money on Friday
Joe Grimes on the side line smiling
With all the technology in this 2000 era things have gotten worse, everything worked more efficiently beyond the late 1900’s. Even the politicians worked more efficiently.
As soon as they hit the streets it’s time for the traffic Cops to go and start writing up at will.
They need to abide the rules of the road
They put everyone’s life at risk on a daily basis and that’s not right
Why is it so hard for us to get this under control? Trinidad had similar problems a few years back and they moved on it seriously. Today their PSVs follow the law or pay for it dearly. Why is our situation so difficult to take control of? So you don’t like the uniforms well stay parked on the pasture a week or 2 then. The guys on the road would welcome less competition anyway.
Honestly they endanger the lives of people on the roads and the passengers travelling on their vehicles. They need to be disciplined. It’s okay to want to earn a dollar but do you have to do that by risking your own life and others. Respect is something you earn and right now none respect your unruly behavior.
Stupidness. The Aopt ask the workers to go back to work because talk are still going on with official of the ministry and these pack of wild boys break away and form them own strike tell me who win here not the owner most of the operator kept the day taking say boss man de van men was pound strike. While some of them operators get as much as $300 for themselves so who is the fool here .foolishness u can imaging that there are some conductors that hire and fire driver .when them don’t allowed the conductor to play that nasy music. Well I stand by the alliance on this one.men there are rules that must be following. I want to hear from u the public what effects did the strike had on u as a commuters.
