With close to 100 people aboard, the first train ride left the starting point at St Nicholas Abbey and went on a journey of almost two miles, passing through a limestone path down the scenic Cherry Tree Hill and back. During the approximately 45 minutes journey, tourists and locals had the opportunity to learn more about the rich history of the area. Officials are pleased that tourists and locals are enthusiastic about the train ride. Co-owner of St Nicholas Abbey Simon Warren told Barbados TODAY he was pleased with the response. “It went very well. We were fully booked, it went very well,” he said. “People were enjoying it. They said that they were glad we now have a train in Barbados again. The people were very, very happy,” said Warren.
