White was the lone Barbadian to represent the island in the Europa Cup. The twenty-two-year-old professional skier received his second place award draped in the Barbados National Flag. White told Barbados TODAY in an earlier interview that he decided to represent Barbados due to his father being Barbadian and who passed away in 2014. “My dad passed away from cancer in 2014 but he was very proud of what I was doing and a big part of me representing Barbados is to honour him as we started this journey together. Unfortunately, he did not get to see me compete internationally at the highest level,” he said then. White’s next goal is to qualify for the Winter Olympics in 2020. If successful he would make history as he would be the first Barbadian athlete to compete in those Games.
