A beach vendor who admitted to having cocaine paraphernalia in his possession has been sentenced to six months in prison.

Kenneth Kelvin Bowen, of 3rd Avenue Harts Gap, Christ Church must also undergo drug rehabilitation during his incarceration at HMP Dodds.

Police stopped the 33-year-old in his community when he was seen riding a bicycle without a helmet. Police requested a search of a backpack which he was carrying after he began fidgeting and acting suspiciously. He consented and a small bottle with a broken bottom and wire mesh to the top was discovered.

“Officer, to tell you the truth I does use it to smoke lil cocaine,” he reportedly told the police at the time.

Today from the dock Bowen asked Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant to “give me a chance.”

However it was revealed that he was given several opportunities in the past on similar offences.
