For the first time in several years wrestling will return to the ring in Barbados.

There are several former exciting household names in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) that are expected to grace the shores of Barbados for the March 7th event to be staged at the Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.

Organiser, Gregg Jones said he is hoping that enthusiastic wrestling supporters will come out and watch the event titled Bruggadown.

Jones explained that as a child he always loved wrestling and hoped to one day bring the event to Barbados.

He said that dream was now being realised.

Local organiser for Burggadown Gregg Jones is happy with the response so far and encouraged all wrestling fans to come out and witness the event.

“The old school, they haven’t seen it for years and even though a lot of stars are new, the whole vibe of it… it’s professional wrestling, it’s sports entertainment and the new school that never probably got to see a lot of them (wrestlers) in person, I want them to be able to say, ‘Hey, I have seen wrestling live, I know what it is all about’, “ Jones explained.

Former WWE stars such as diva Melina Nava Perez, Carlos Edwin Colón Jr whose ring name was Carlito, Chris Masters, George Murdoch known as Brodus Clay, and Phillip Paul Lloyd also known as PJ Black, are all expected to attend the event.

In addition, members of the Face to Face Wrestling School based in Atlanta, Georgia, which Jones attended will also participate.

So far he noted that the response towards the event, which is two weeks away, has been tremendous.

“Before when we launched on social media people couldn’t believe it. Obviously, a lot of fake things go around on social media, so for them to see this poster pop out of nowhere, it was like, ‘I know that this could be fake, but I am hoping this is real’.

“So the more exposure I get (radio), the more they realise it is real. I expect that from here on that things would pick up a lot more,” Jones said.

He added: “The guys (wrestlers) would actually be here from early next week and what we plan to do is pop-ups where people can meet the guys and we are doing special discounts and give always.”

Former WWE diva Melina Nava Perez will light up the stage with her beauty and skills.

WWE star Chris Masters will definitely bring the energy at Bruggadown.

A number of sponsors such as the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc, Foreday Morning Chocolate Band, Tropical Touch Investment, N&M Building and Finishes, NRB Construction, Timeout Hotel and Communicative Public Relations are all part of the venture.

Tickets are $80 and $60 for adults and children respectively and can be accessed through Ticketlinkz, A&B Sheraton and Sol Warrens.
